Performer Biography

Chiara Banchini, the director of Ensemble 415, founded the baroque violin class at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Genève in 1977 and taught at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for twenty years.

Compositional Technique

Vivaldi's L'estro armonico, Op. 3, was innovative for its time due to its structured dialogue among one, two, three, or four soloists, often mirroring each other or playing in pairs.

Interpretation

Chiara Banchini, the director of Ensemble 415, chose to record Vivaldi's concertos for four violins to allow a large proportion of her ensemble members, many of whom were her former students, to perform as soloists.
