The first movement of Piazzolla's "The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires," "Summer," was originally composed as incidental music for a 1965 play by Alberto Rodríguez Muñoz.
Compositional Technique
The second movement of Villa-Lobos's "Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5," "Dança (Martelo)," recalls improvised poetry competitions from north-east Brazil and features the soprano imitating bird calls.
