The album features two distinct musical settings of Hart Crane's poem cycle 'Voyages,' one by Robert Convery from 1994 and another by Benjamin C.S. Boyle from 2018.

Hart Crane, the poet whose 'Voyages' cycle is set on this album, was a Modernist poet who used 'a logic of metaphor' where terms were selected for associational meanings rather than literal significance.

Robert Convery's 'Voyages' for unaccompanied choir is structured as a set of variations, where the thematic material for each of its six movements is drawn from the preceding movement.
