The flute and guitar were the first instruments on which tango music was played in Buenos Aires in the 1880s, making them a natural choice for Piazzolla's "Histoire du Tango."
Album & Artwork
The album "Wanderlust" was conceived during the pandemic when the performers, Lara Deutsch (flute) and Adam Cicchillitti (guitar), were unable to travel, using music to transport listeners instead.
Composer Biography
Béla Bartók, widely considered one of the first ethnomusicologists, traveled the Hungarian countryside recording folk melodies on a phonograph for his compositions.
Instruments
Lara Deutsch, the flutist on this album, performs on a 14k gold Haynes flute, generously loaned by Canimex Inc. of Drummondville, QC.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Much of the music on this album is inspired by folk music from around the world, a natural fit for the flute and guitar, which are deeply rooted in many global folk traditions.
