The song "Joseph, liber neve myn" is believed to be the first German translation of the Latin "Resonet in laudibus," found in a Silesian manuscript from around 1420 that arrived in Leipzig about a century later.
Cultural Impact
The popular Christmas carol "Stille Nacht" (Silent Night) was brought to Saxony by the Strasser siblings, glovemakers who sang Tyrolean melodies at self-organized concerts, and they performed it during Christmas mass in 1831 and as an encore in 1832 to great success.
