Composer Biography

Eberwein undertook a concert tour to Italy in 1803, where he studied with Fedele Fenarolio, a renowned contrapuntist and teacher of Cimarosa, at the Conservatorio Santa Maria di Loreto in Naples.

Traugott Maximilian Eberwein, born in 1775, was a child prodigy who played in the court chapel at the age of seven and completed his violin education by 1791.

Eberwein developed a close, almost friendly relationship with Joseph Haydn after visiting him in Vienna on his return from Italy.

Composition History

Eberwein became "Wirklicher Fürstl. Rudolstädtischer Hof-Capellmeister" (Master of the Royal Courtchapel of Rudolstadt) in 1817, gaining sole directorship of the court chapel.

The Thuringian Chamber Orchestra Weimar, founded in 1962, is one of the world's oldest chamber orchestras, with members of the Staatskapelle Weimar.

Eberwein also established connections with Beethoven and Salieri, renewing these contacts during a second trip to Vienna in 1817.
