Instruments
Two different marimbas were used for this recording: a Musser M500 Concert Grand Soloist and a Saito MSK-5500.

Makoto Nakura's mission is to explore and expand the possibilities of the marimba and demonstrate its exciting and provocative vehicle for composers.
Composition History
In 2001, Makoto Nakura founded the ISGM New Music Commissioning Fund to create new works for the marimba, which commissioned all the works on this album.
Performer Biography
Makoto Nakura, the marimbist on this album, was the first marimbist to win first prize in the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
Recording & Production
The album was recorded in two different locations: Catholic St. Viator Kitashirakawa Church in Kyoto, Japan, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City.
