John Worgan, a musician of "eccentric Mind" and "greatest Genius," was an admirable organ player, according to R. J. S. Stevens in 1787.

The organ used for this recording, at St Botolph without Aldgate, is England's oldest surviving church organ, with the oldest collection of pipes in their original positions.
Composition History
John Worgan was reluctant to publish his organ pieces during his lifetime; the fifteen works recorded here were only released posthumously.
