Wranitzky was a prolific composer of symphonies, with 45 surviving works, and was considered the most important symphonist in Vienna during the second half of the 1790s.
Cultural Impact
Wranitzky's first stage work, Oberon, König der Elfen, premiered in 1789 and prompted a series of fairy tale operas, including Mozart's The Magic Flute.
