By 1958, Fritz Wunderlich was celebrated as the ideal Mozart singer of the younger generation, and in 1960, he sang Tiresias in the premiere of Carl Orff's Oedipus der Tyrann.

Critical Reception

Musicologists Karl J. Kutsch and Leo Riemens acclaimed Fritz Wunderlich as possessing "one of the most beautiful tenor voices that the twentieth century has given us."
