The American baritone Thomas Hampson celebrates his seventieth birthday this week, marking a distinguished international career that has taken him to every major opera house in the world. Renowned for his interpretations of lieder and for performing more than eighty opera roles, Hampson has also devoted himself to education, having started his own foundation and serving as the artistic director of the Lied Academy Heidelberg. Today we toast Thomas with this playlist of our favourite recordings.
