Anders Koppel, born in 1947, comes from a prominent Danish musical family; his father, Herman D. Koppel, was a leading 20th-century Danish composer, and all four of his children became prominent musicians.

Anders Koppel's Terzetto for Clarinet, Viola, and Piano was commissioned by The Kegelstatt Trio, an ensemble named after Mozart's famous work for the same instrumentation.

Anders Koppel's Concerto for Mandolin and String Quartet was written in 2016 at the request of Danish guitarist and mandolinist Allan Sjølin, fulfilling a long-held dream of the composer.

Koppel's Terzetto, like his String Quartet No. 4, features a central framework presented at the beginning: a twelve-note row that guides the first movement and reappears in the third.
