The collection includes a flute by Chattillion from around 1680, which is one of the earliest surviving 3-piece French flutes.

Ashley Solomon recorded some of Telemann's Fantasias on a unique porcelain and gold flute made in 1760 for King George III, who was the last person to play it in 1789.
Interpretation
The flutist's mission for this project is to bring these historical instruments to life and document their sound and playing qualities, as an un-played instrument is considered a 'dead instrument'.
