For this project, Felix Vogelsang selected one movement from each of Bach's cello suites and presented it to different composers as a stimulus for new compositions.

The recordings for this album took place across several dates between April 2018 and May 2022 at the Auditorium Stelio Molo, RSI (Radiotelevisione Svizzera), Lugano, Switzerland.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Felix Vogelsang believes that Bach's six Cello Suites have a clear structure and architecture, with the C minor Suite No. 5 representing death and the D major Suite No. 6 representing resurrection.
Interpretation
Felix Vogelsang's interpretation of Bach's Cello Suites is a compromise, using a cello from 1730 with modern strings and performing Suite No. 5 with scordatura but without a Baroque bow.
Compositional Technique
Paul Glass, one of the composers featured, literally mirrored each measure of the Allemande from Bach's Suite No. 2 in his piece "Bach im Spiegel," playing the notes in original order and then in reverse.
