Beethoven's early career in Vienna was significantly aided by introductions to leading members of society, as the Archbishop who sent him was a son of Empress Maria Theresa.

The performers on this album – Attila Falvay (violin), János Fejérvári (viola), and György Éder (cello) – are three of the four members of the Kodály Quartet.
Composition History
The String Trios, Op. 9, were written in 1797 and 1798 and dedicated to Count von Browne, who Beethoven considered the 'premier Mécène de sa Muse' (first patron of his muse).
