Jan Václav Hugo Voříšek, a trained lawyer, resigned his post in the imperial council of war to become second court organist and later musical director of the Society of the Friends of Music.

Performer Biography

Pianist Henrike Brüggen has intensively studied historical performance practice, leading to regular collaborations with Reinhard Goebel and postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

This album is the Duo Brüggen-Plank's first recording on Audax Records and was created in collaboration with Reinhard Goebel.

Archduke Rudolph of Austria, a pupil of Beethoven, was a respectable pianist and composer whose modest oeuvre remains rather unexplored.

Composition History

Beethoven dedicated his Violin Sonata Op. 96 to his pupil Archduke Rudolph of Austria, despite the work being premiered by the famous violinist Pierre Rode.
