Composition History
Alban Berg's Three Pieces from Lyric Suite originated as a six-movement string quartet, which he later arranged for string orchestra in 1928.
Compositional Technique
Berg's Lyric Suite combines Arnold Schoenberg's 12-tone techniques with elements of early 19th-century romanticism, and includes coded initials of Berg and his love interest, Hanna Fuchs-Robettin.
