The Dallas chapter of the American Guild of Organists commissioned William Bolcom, the composer, to create new organ music for their sixtieth anniversary in 1979.

This recording was made on the Skinner Organ at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, University of Chicago, which was originally built in 1927 and rebuilt in 2007.

Gregory Hand, the organist on this recording, is an Assistant Professor of Organ at The University of Iowa and previously served as University Chapel Organist at Northwestern University.
