Composition History
Four compositions by Bonporti were once mistakenly attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach and published in the 'Bach Gesellschaft' edition, a discovery made by Werner Wolfheim in 1911.

Accademia I Filarmonici, the ensemble on this recording, performs Baroque and pre-Romantic repertoire without a conductor, with the first violin, Alberto Martini, acting as leader.

Composer Biography
Francesco Antonio Bonporti, the composer, was born in Trento in 1672 and died in Padua in 1749, having studied theology in Rome and composition under Ottavio Pitoni.
