Composer Biography
Paul Klengel (1854-1935), who transcribed the works on this album, was a renowned violinist, pianist, conductor, and teacher, and the brother of the eminent cellist Julius Klengel.
Composition History
Brahms composed a significant portion of his late clarinet pieces, including the Clarinet Quintet, in Bad Ischl, inspired by clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld.
Performer Biography
Christopher Williams, the pianist on this recording, is also assistant director of the BBC National Chorus of Wales and a pianist for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
