Callas sings Arias from Verdi Operas - Callas Remastered
9/19/2014, 9 Tracks, 50:18

During the recording sessions in 1964 and 1965, Maria Callas's voice was in a fragile state, requiring exceptional effort to control.
Maria Callas found Giuseppe Verdi's music most congenial, allowing her to fully exploit her musical and dramatic talents.
Maria Callas was not satisfied with these recordings, and further remake sessions in 1969 proved unproductive.
The track 'Ritorna vincitor!' was not originally planned but was recorded in a single take after Maria Callas heard another soprano's recording and decided to sing it herself.
Only five tracks from these sessions were approved by Maria Callas for release on an LP called 'Callas by Request' in 1972; the remaining tracks were issued posthumously.
This album is the final solo recital that Maria Callas, a renowned soprano, worked on at the end of her recording career.
