Kimberly Marshall, the organist on this album, is an expert on early organ music and has performed on many historical organs, but also performs contemporary works, including some by Ligeti in the composer's presence.

The violins used on this recording include a Guarneri del Gesù 'The Duke of Camposelice' from 1734 played by Cho-Liang Lin, and a Stradivarius from 1692 played by Yi-Jia Susanne Hou.

Chen Yi, born in Guangzhou, China, learned violin at a young age and continued playing even after being sent to the countryside during the Cultural Revolution.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Chen Yi's compositions are inspired by her deep experience with Chinese operatic tradition and folk culture, combined with her study of Western classical music.
