Composer Biography

Gloria Coates, born in Wausau, Wisconsin, began composing and experimenting with overtones and clusters at the young age of nine.

Compositional Technique

Symphony No. 10 is written for brass and percussion instruments and is divided into three movements, reflecting the Celts' magic number three.

Composition History

Symphony No. 10 'Drones of Druids on Celtic Ruins' was commissioned in 1989 by the Erding Ministry of Culture for an outdoor performance over ancient Celtic archaeological ruins.
