Composer Biography
Angelo Gilardino, an Italian guitarist and editor, exchanged hundreds of letters with John W. Duarte and published 19 original compositions and 14 books of arrangements by Duarte over 20 years.

John W. Duarte's Sua Cosa, a piece with a predominantly jazz character, quotes from Wes Montgomery's own composition, Mi Cosa, in its middle section.
Composition History
John W. Duarte wrote three Venezuelan valses, including characteristic hemiola rhythms, within one day after returning from Venezuela where he met Antonio Lauro, a Venezuelan composer.

This recording was made in Holy Trinity Church, Weston, England, from March 5-7, 2024, with John Taylor as the Recording Engineer and Producer, and Christopher Duarte supervising the music.
Composition History
John W. Duarte's Sonatina Lirica Op.48, an homage to Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, was commissioned by the Guitar Weeks in Zwolle (Netherlands) Foundation and written quickly in 1971.
