Sir Harrison Birtwistle's 'Duet 5' is part of an evolving sequence of duets that began with 'The Message (Duet 1)' in 2008, written as a 'birthday card' for the London Sinfonietta.

The London Sinfonietta, founded in 1968, has commissioned over 300 works and premiered many hundreds more, aiming to place contemporary classical music at the heart of today's culture.
