Pianist Martin Klett, born in 1987, began piano instruction at age six and started studying piano at the Lübeck Musikhochschule in 2006.

Martin Klett established himself internationally in 2008 with a First Prize at the Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria, followed by a Second Prize and two special prizes at the International Piano Competition Enschede, Netherlands.
Composition History
Isang Yun began writing his work 'Riul' in prison as a thank you to clarinet students from Hanover who protested his arrest by the South Korean military government.

Clarinetist Sebastian Manz, born in 1986, received his first clarinet lessons at age seven and was accepted as a junior student at the Lübeck Musikhochschule at eleven.

In 2008, Sebastian Manz won First Prize in the clarinet category at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, a prize not awarded for 40 years, along with the audience prize and other special prizes.
Album & Artwork
Duo Riul, consisting of Sebastian Manz and Martin Klett, named themselves after Isang Yun's work 'Riul,' which means 'law, rhythm, and a flowing melodic line' in Korean.
Recording & Production
Isang Yun's 'Riul' on this album was recorded two years prior to the rest of the CD for archival purposes by Bayerischer Rundfunk, as there wasn't enough time for a new recording.
