Johann Ladislaus Dussek, the composer, was considered one of the foremost keyboard performers and composers of his era by his contemporaries.

Instruments

Two different fortepianos are used on this recording: a replica after Michael Rosenberger (Vienna c. 1810) for two sonatas, and an original John Broadwood and Son (London 1804) for the others.

Joseph Haydn, a renowned composer, wrote a letter in 1792 praising Johann Ladislaus Dussek, the composer, as "one of the most upright, moral, and, in music most eminent of men."

Wolfgang Brunner, the fortepiano performer, has recorded approximately 60 CDs and is passionate about keyboard improvisation, which he practices daily.

Instruments

John Broadwood and Son, a piano builder, developed fortepianos with an extended keyboard range at the request of Johann Ladislaus Dussek, the composer.
