The works by Nørgård were recorded in August 2000 in Torpen Kapel, Humlebæk, Denmark, while other works were recorded in 1975 and 1988-89 at the Royal Academy of Music, Århus.

Morten Zeuthen, the cellist on this album, was a co-founder of the legendary Kontra Kvartet, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1998 with over a thousand concerts and more than 40 recordings.
