Ed Hughes, the composer, studied at Cambridge with Robin Holloway and Alexander Goehr, and at Southampton with Michael Finnissy.
Performer Biography
Carlos del Cueto, the conductor, holds a PhD in Music from Clare College, Cambridge, and is a Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Composer's Artistic Vision
The opera When the Flame Dies pays homage to Jean Cocteau's interpretation of the Orphic myth in his 1950 film Orphée, while adapting it for opera.
