George Enescu, born in a small Romanian village, was a versatile polymath who enrolled at the Vienna Conservatory at age seven and later studied at the Paris Conservatory.

Josu De Solaun, the pianist on this recording, is the First Prize winner of the XIII George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest.
