Enjott Schneider's oratorio triptych "Sancta Trinitas" was commissioned by the Stadtkirche 'Heilig Dreifaltigkeit' in Bayreuth for its 400th anniversary.
Composer's Artistic Vision
The oratorio is centered on Martin Luther's 1524 trinity hymn "WIR GLAUBEN ALL AN EINEN GOTT" (We All Believe in One True God), with its three verses relating to the articles of faith.
Compositional Technique
Part 2 of the oratorio, which premiered alongside Mozart's Requiem, incorporates the rhythmic style of Mozart's "Lacrimosa" in its setting of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's text.
