This CD is a unique collaboration between two conductors, Benedikt Haag and Nicol Matt, who alternated directing the recordings for the amadeus-chor's 50th anniversary.

Performer Biography

Nicol Matt, the other conductor, has close to 100 CD productions of vocal, orchestral, and instrumental works from almost all musical periods, many of which have received international awards.

Composer Biography

Fanny Hensel, the only female composer on this album, was the sister of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and her two garden songs featured here were composed and published during her lifetime.

Performer Biography

Benedikt Haag, one of the conductors, received his first musical and vocal education in the Windsbacher Knabenchor, a renowned boys' choir, from 1997 to 2006.

Composition History

The 'Abendlied' (Evening Song) by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, his most famous work, was initially created when he was only 15 years old and refined multiple times.

Composer's Artistic Vision

The Romantic era's focus on broadening the mind, embracing the unconscious, and finding solace in nature, as reflected in these songs, is seen as surprisingly relevant today amidst concerns about climate change and digital parallel worlds.

Notable Performances

The amadeus-chor has won awards at the CARA Awards for Contemporary A Cappella, including second place in 2009 for Eric Whitacre's 'Lux Aurumque' and first place in 2012 for Jan Sandström's 'Det Är En Ros Utsprungen'.
