Michel Blavet, a self-taught flute virtuoso, held the most prestigious posts in Parisian musical life for decades, including first flute for the Musique du Roy and joining the opera orchestra.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Many of the concertos by French flautists Buffardin and Blavet, as well as works by Boismortier and Corrette, were inspired by the Italian style, particularly that of Albinoni and Vivaldi.

The Concert Spirituel, a public concert series founded in Paris in 1725, quickly popularized Italian musical tastes in the French capital.
Composition History
Boismortier's Opus 15, published in 1727, was the first set of six concertos for five flutes without bass to appear in France.
