Composer Biography
Antón García Abril, the composer, was Professor of Composition at the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music of Madrid from 1974 to 2003.
Composition History
Sonata del Pórtico was commissioned for the 37th International Course of Spanish Music, 'Music in Compostela', and pays tribute to the 'Porch of Glory' sculpture in the Santiago de Compostela cathedral.

Antón García Abril has been awarded numerous national honors, prizes, honorary doctorates, and membership in prestigious Royal Academies of Fine Arts in major Spanish cities.
Compositional Technique
The movements of Evocaciones are inspired by quotations from leading Spanish writers, including Salvador de Madariaga, Federico García Lorca, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Antonio Machado, and Miguel de Unamuno.
Composition History
The work Evocaciones was awarded the Andrés Segovia Composition Prize, sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, at the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance in 1981.
Performer Biography
Francisco Bernier, the guitarist, won First Prize at the prestigious International Competition Michele Pittaluga in Alessandria, Italy, and has performed in over thirty countries.
