Instruments
The viola used in this recording was made by Giovanni Pistucci in Napoli around 1920, and a Baroque bow by Luis Emilio Rodriquez Carrington from 2012 is also used.

Telemann composed these 12 Fantasies for viola da gamba between August and October 1735, the same year he wrote 12 Fantasies for violin and divorced his wife.
Composition History
Telemann was one of the first composers to print his own music, and a print of the original gamba version of these Fantasies from 1735 was rediscovered in 2015 after being lost for nearly 300 years.
