Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, the composer, died of consumption at the age of 29 and was buried in Dresden on April 15, 1756.

Goldberg was a severe critic of his own works, reportedly destroying most of his compositions, and once called his 24 polonaises "miserable trifles for ladies."
Compositional Technique
Goldberg's harpsichord concertos are much longer than those of his contemporaries, with each lasting over half an hour, and feature inventive themes, virtuoso passages, and sometimes modern harmonic progressions.

This album was recorded in November 2003 at the Hospedería de Fonseca in Salamanca, with José Miguel Martínez as the recording engineer and Wilbert Hazelzet as the musical advisor.

At the age of 10, Goldberg moved to Dresden with Count Keyserlingk, the Russian envoy, and studied with Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, who was an organist there.
