Alexandre Tansman, a Polish composer, was persuaded to write for the guitar after being introduced to Andrés Segovia, a renowned Spanish classical guitarist, in Paris in 1921.

This album was recorded at St John Chrysostom Church, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, from April 24th to 27th, 2008, with Norbert Kraft and Bonnie Silver as producers.
