The album title and the Chaos String Quartet's name are inspired by the philosopher Vito Mancuso's idea that chaos is a precondition for any kind of order.

Instruments
Bas Jongen, the cellist of the Chaos String Quartet, plays a cello made by Hendrick Jacobs in Amsterdam in 1696, on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
