Composer Biography
Haydn composed the Op. 76 quartets concurrently with his work on "Die Schöpfung" (The Creation) and his first few masses for Princess Maria Josepha Hermenegild Esterházy.
Composition History
Haydn's String Quartets, Op. 76, were his last full set of six string quartets and were commissioned by Count Joseph Erdödy, which meant they were reserved for his exclusive use before publication.
