Performer Biography
Il Giardino Armonico, directed by Giovanni Antonini, was founded in 1985 as a trio of recorder, cello, and harpsichord, and has since expanded its repertoire.

The Haydn2032 project aims to record all 107 of Joseph Haydn's symphonies by the 300th anniversary of his birth in 2032.
Composition History
Haydn's Symphony No. 44, nicknamed 'Trauer' (Mourning), likely acquired its name from a commemoration ceremony for the composer held in Berlin in 1809, shortly after his death.
Album & Artwork
For the visual presentation of each volume, Haydn2032 collaborates with a photographer from the famous Magnum agency, such as Emin Özmen, who documented human rights violations.
Interpretation
Giovanni Antonini, the artistic director, approaches Haydn's symphonies thematically rather than chronologically, seeing the music as 'a kaleidoscope of human emotions'.
