Niels W. Gade, director of Kjøbenhavns Musikconservatorium, advised Fini Henriques not to apply to the conservatoire, believing it unsuitable for the young man's talent.

Thomas Trondhjem, the pianist on this album, has received numerous awards, including a 'Danish Music Award' (Grammy) in 2002 and the P2-prisen in 2003 for his recordings.

Composer Biography

Fini Henriques, the composer, began composing small piano pieces at age seven, taught by his mother, and started violin lessons at eight, which later became his livelihood.

Recording & Production

The piano used for this recording is a Bösendorfer model 225, provided by 'Pianoværkstedet Mattsson & McGehee' and courtesy of Per Skriver, the organist of Sct. Markus Church.

Fini Henriques, the composer, was the tenth child in his family; his father reportedly exclaimed 'Finis!' (meaning 'end' in Latin) upon his birth, leading to his unusual name.
