Zeitgeist is a new music chamber ensemble comprised of two percussionists, a pianist, and woodwinds, lauded for providing 'a once-in-a-lifetime experience for adventurous concertgoers.'
Compositional Technique
The pieces on this album showcase a wide range of styles, from neoclassic to unclassifiable, demonstrating that Zeitgeist has no single 'house style' and embraces diverse musical approaches.
Composition History
For their thirtieth anniversary, Zeitgeist invited thirty Minnesota-based composer-friends to write short pieces, each exactly 150 seconds long, to honor the state's concurrent sesquicentennial.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Zeitgeist, a new music ensemble, is always eager to explore new artistic frontiers and collaborates with composers to create imaginative new work that challenges traditional chamber music boundaries.
Album & Artwork
The album features a collection of miniatures that serve as a 'snapshot of Minnesota's long-lively compositional scene' in the early 2000s, or as 'thirty love letters to Zeitgeist.'
