Recording & Production
The Piano Concerto was recorded live at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, while the Sonatina and Partita were recorded in St Silas the Martyr, Kentish Town.

The Sonatina nostalgica is nostalgic on three levels: commissioned by his old school, using a romantic musical language, and evoking homesickness for his youth in Lymm, Cheshire.

Sir Stephen Hough was the first classical performer to be given a MacArthur Fellowship and was knighted for Services to Music in 2022.

The Sonatina nostalgica was written for Stephen Hough's friend Philip Fowke, a fellow student from Gordon Green, to celebrate his seventieth birthday.
