Album & Artwork

The IBA emblem features an etching by Albrecht Dürer, a German painter and printmaker, sent to Idil Biret by her teacher Nadia Boulanger at Christmas 1959.

Interpretation

Pianist Idil Biret made her own solo piano transcriptions of Brahms's Third and Fourth Symphonies, based on the composer's two-piano versions.

Idil Biret, the pianist on this album, began recording at age eight for ORTF (Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française / French Radio and Television Broadcasting) in Paris.
