The oboe works on this album were rediscovered through Miroslav Hošek's Catalogue of Oboe Literature by Czech and Slovak Authors, published in 1969.

Nancy Ambrose King, the oboist on this recording, won first prize in the Third New York International Competition for Solo Oboists.

To his contemporaries, Krommer's string quartets were considered equal to those of Haydn and rivaled those of Beethoven.
