Legendary recording engineer George Massenburg, inventor of the Parametric EQ, engineered the recording of Electric Counterpoint at his Blackbird Studio in Nashville.

Performer Biography
Kuniko Kato, the percussionist on this album, studied under world marimba legend Keiko Abe and graduated summa cum laude from Rotterdam Conservatorium.

Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint was originally commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival for guitarist Pat Metheny.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Steve Reich's Six Marimbas is a rescoring of his earlier work Six Pianos, suggested by percussionist James Preiss, a member of Reich's ensemble.
