Compositional Technique

Interpretation

Sally Beamish, who arranged Debussy's La Mer for piano trio, aimed to 'reinvent' the orchestral score for the new ensemble, exploring chamber music textures while remaining faithful to the original.

Composition History

Camille Saint-Saëns, the composer of the Piano Trio No. 2, promised his publisher the work for six years before beginning it in March 1892.
