Georges Lentz, the composer, was born in Luxembourg in 1965 but has resided in Australia since 1990.

The "Mysterium" project incorporates elements like the Pythagorean harmony of the spheres, the solitude of the Australian Outback, and Aboriginal pointillist painting.

Lentz's music in "Mysterium" often features "limping bars," where each measure has four beats, and the crotchet reference value can be multiplied or divided by four.

The works on this album are part of Lentz's larger "Mysterium" project, which forms the seventh part of his "Caeli enarrant..." cycle.

Lentz's entire compositional output is based on a project called "Caeli enarrant..." (The heavens are telling...), inspired by Psalm 19 and a traumatic realization of the universe's vastness.
Performer Biography
Tabea Zimmermann, the violist on this recording, began learning the viola at age three and has won several international competitions, including the Geneva and Budapest International Competitions.
