Bernard-Aymable Dupuy (1707-1789), a prominent figure in Toulouse's musical life, composed for both religious and secular institutions before his death on the eve of the French Revolution.
Instruments
All instruments used in this recording are copies of period instruments, and a serpent, a historical wind instrument, plays a special role, sometimes having its own melody.
Interpretation
The performers chose an unequal temperament, based on Michel Corrette (1753), to achieve a more natural intonation and a particular timbre, especially in dissonances.
