Duo Joncol's album "Luz de Iberia" aims to create a dialogue between traditional Spanish works by Isaac Albéniz and Joaquín Rodrigo and contemporary Spanish music for two guitars.
Composition History
Joaquín Rodrigo's "Tonadilla" for two guitars was commissioned in 1960 by the legendary duo Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya.
Recording & Production
Several pieces on the album, including "Una Luz del Norte" by Carles Guisado, "El Peixet de Bloomington" by Feliu Gasull, and "Alma de mujer" by Chano Domínguez, feature jazz percussionist Kurt Fuhrmann.

Duo Joncol has won several first prizes at international guitar festivals, including in Poland, Italy, and Romania.
Compositional Technique
Feliu Gasull's "Tretze Bonsais per a dues guitarres" extensively uses scordatura, a technique of retuning the guitar strings, with each piece having a different tuning except for one.
Interpretation
Duo Joncol created the first guitar arrangement for two guitars and percussion of Chano Domínguez's "Alma de mujer," originally a solo piano piece.
